As expected, the new coach of the Serie A club in Italy became former Udinese and Cagliari strategist Giampiero Ventura.
Messina, currently in 18th place in the Italian championship, began searching for a new coach after their unsuccessful season under Bertolo Mutti, who was fired from the position of head coach on Monday.
Ventura coached Napoli last season, but then left the team and has not worked with any team since. The Italian soccer specialist arrived at the new team and said he believes in their chances to stay in Serie A.
"I'm not a magician and I don't have a magic wand, but I see the potential of this team and I believe that together we will manage to stay in Serie A," said Ventura. "The entire club staff has shown a willingness to fight, and I am convinced that we will succeed."
