One of the most prestigious clubs in the history of Spanish football, Madrid's Atletico, shocked their fans by announcing that from next season, they will replace their traditional red and white striped jerseys with plain red and white uniforms.
This decision was made by Atletico's management after signing a contract with the sports equipment manufacturer Nike. The red and white jerseys, worn by Los Rojiblancos (the red and whites - Atletico's nickname), have been worn since the club's founding in 1903.
"Nike's quality, achievements in the field of sports, and aggressive marketing are everything our club needs," it is written on Atletico's official website.
