After an impressive victory with a score of 2-0 in the first quarterfinal match of the UEFA Champions League against Turin, the London team's coach Arsene Wenger once again praised his young team, while the strategist of the defeated Italian champions Fabio Capello regretted the two red cards they received.
"I believe we will finish the job in Italy, but there is still a lot to do. We must remain calm and play simple football. The boys can do it, and they can perform even better, they are not limited. There is enough skill in this team and it's a pleasure to watch," rejoiced A. Wenger.
The return to London for former "Arsenal" captain Patrick Vieira was unsuccessful - he lost the ball in the middle of the field in that episode, after which the "Gunners" scored the first goal, and later also earned a yellow card, which means he will miss the return match between the teams.
One of the best players in the match was the young super talent Cesc Fabregas who took Patrick Vieira's place in the center of the field after moving to Italy, but A. Wenger did not make a big deal out of it: "Today I was not aiming to justify Patrick's sale. He is a wonderful player and losing someone like him will always cause problems. But now a new team is born and growing, that's football. For a long time, we had to adapt to the Premier League and find confidence in our abilities. The victory against Real helped us, but football is fragile and must be careful. One loss and we can fall into a pit again."
According to A. Wenger, after the excellent victory, he regretted only that "Arsenal" did not score more goals: "I felt that we could score one more goal. I am very happy with the team's performance and unity. There was no lack of freedom and speed, and the level of technique was very high at certain moments."
Meanwhile, "Juventus" coach Fabio Capello said that his team has not lost the chance to eliminate the deficit and reach the semi-finals, but the Italian specialist was especially dissatisfied with the discipline of the players and their outbursts at the end of the match - Mauro Camoranesi and Jonathan Zebina were sent off the field for rough fouls.
"The first half was dull, and we missed a goal that we could easily avoid. The same can be said about the second half, and in general, this is happening quite often now. I was most disappointed with the red cards, because in a team like "Juventus" it cannot happen. We need to talk a little, because such mistakes are simply unacceptable. I think giving Zebina a second yellow card, the referee went too far, it was not a blatant foul. However, we must be more careful," said F. Capello.
Nevertheless, the coach who won the Champions League with "Milan" 12 years ago said he has not lost hope: "We must always believe, and I always do. We will play with determination and grit our teeth. I must say that after resting for 10 days, "Arsenal" had more physical endurance. I've seen them play a few times, their defense is strong when everyone works hard and helps each other - that's what they do effectively."
