On Sunday, there was no shortage of goals in Spain: eight goals were scored in Valencia, where "Valencia" beat "Cadiz" footballers 5-3, and an unexpected thrashing was experienced at home by Pamplona's "Osasuna", who lost 4-0 to Madrid's "Getafe".

It was precisely the loss of "Osasuna" that allowed "Valencia" to break a streak of six winless games and rise to third place. Now the Valencia team is two points behind "Real", who played a 1-1 draw with "Barcelona" on Saturday, in second place.

Madrid's "Atletico" also suffered an unexpected loss at home, being thrashed 3-0 by Vigo "Celta" footballers returning to "La Liga" after a year break.

Seville's derby attracted a lot of attention and was won by Seville's "Betis" footballers, who are much lower on the tournament table. "Betis" took the lead in the 16th minute when Robert successfully converted a penalty kick. Although "Sevilla" responded with a precise shot by the Argentine Javier Saviola a little over ten minutes later, "Betis" defender Fernando Varela restored a one-goal lead before the end of the first half, which they managed to maintain until the final whistle.

An important victory was also achieved by La Coruna's "Deportivo", who ended their streak of failures at home by defeating "Racing Santander" footballers 2-0, strengthening their position in the fight for a spot in the UEFA Europa League. It is worth noting that this was only the sixth victory for "Deportivo" at home in the "El Riazor" stadium this season.

Two matches on Sunday ended without goals: "Alaves" and "Athletic Bilbao" fighting for survival in the league, and "Mallorca" and Barcelona's "Espanyol" were unable to overcome the opposing goalkeepers.

Today the Seville derby is still being played. Read about it tomorrow.
