The Lithuanian "A Lyga" championship will start later than planned - the first round of the competition, which was supposed to take place on April 9, has been postponed to reserve days, and the new league season will start from the second round on April 15.

This decision was made today by the board of the National Football Clubs Association (NFKA) meeting in Kaunas, taking into account the weather conditions. This spring is late, so the stadiums will not be suitable for playing on April 9.

The player registration deadline has been extended. Clubs will be able to register football players until April 14.

It was planned that the quarterfinal matches of the Lithuanian Football Federation Cup would take place on April 12. It was decided that teams, if they agree, can play earlier, but no later than by the 12th of this month. By April 6, clubs hosting opponents must inform the location, date, and time of the match.

Jonas Braga, the President of the Lithuanian Football Referees Association who participated in the meeting, asked NFKA to increase the referees' salaries. The NFKA board, after considering the request, approved it.

It was also decided that this season the teams of the "A Lyga" will play matches only with "Adidas" balls.
