"Bayern" club crushed in Bremen © EuroFootball.com

29th round of the German national championship started on Saturday. The central match of the round unexpectedly ended in Bremen, where the local "Werder" crushed the league champions "Bayern" 3-0.

In the match between "Werder" and "Bayern" clubs, the hosts could have taken the lead first, but "Werder" forward N. Valdez failed to beat O. Kahn. After playing for a little over half an hour, the first goal was scored when during a "Werder" attack, B. Schweinsteiger inadvertently directed the ball into his own net, leaving no chances for O. Kahn. The missed goal did not intimidate the visitors – "Bayern" took the initiative, created many opportunities, but could not convert them into goals. It was much easier for Bremen's footballers to do so, as they scored two goals in the final minutes of the match, leaving "Bayern" with no hopes.

This was the biggest defeat for "Bayern" in the league under F. Magath's leadership, after which "Werder" climbed to second place and closed in on "Bavaria" by seven points. However, perhaps a bigger threat to the "Bayern" club is the "Hamburg" team - if the port city footballers manage to defeat "Gladbach" at home on Sunday, the advantage of the league-leading Munich team could melt to just four points. By the way, it is worth mentioning that "Gladbach" is one of the worst teams when playing away.

The "Hertha" team continues to demonstrate excellent results, winning 2-0 away against "Kaiserslautern" in this round and securing their fourth victory in the last five matches. The capital club scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute, when after a pass into the penalty area, "Hertha" forward M. Pantelic scored with a precise shot into the bottom corner. This was already the tenth goal of the season for the Serbian playing on loan at the "Hertha" club. The second goal was not long in coming - just ten minutes later, Gilberto doubled the score with a shot from nine meters.

This victory did not allow Berlin's footballers to solidify their fifth place, as their close competitors also secured wins - "Bayer" managed to defeat "Borussia" 2-1 away, while "Stuttgart" snatched a victory against "Nurnberg" with a minimal result.

Approaching the end of the season, signs of life began to show for the "Koln" team, who defeated the "Wolfsburg" team 3-0 at home in this round and earned their fourth point in the last two matches. It is worth mentioning that all three goals were scored by the hosts in the last four minutes of the match. The victory allowed "Koln" to temporarily climb out of the last position, but hopes to play in the Bundesliga next season are slim - with six rounds left until the fifteenth place, guaranteeing the right to play in the top league, "Koln" is six points behind.
