On Saturday in the English Premier League, instead of five planned matches, only four took place. The match between Sunderland and Fulham was interrupted after just over 20 minutes due to worsening weather conditions. The game should be resumed in the near future.

Nevertheless, Sunderland, nearly losing all hopes in the fight for survival, managed to defeat their opponents as Brian McBride scored an accurate shot in the 8th minute. It is worth noting that Sunderland has not won a single game in front of their home crowd this season.

Still in the race for the coveted fourth place and a chance to breakthrough to next year's UEFA Champions League qualification matches, Tottenham defeated Manchester City 2-1 at home. After this victory, Martino Jol's team is now five points ahead of Arsenal with two games less and has real chances to achieve their goal.

Birmingham also earned a point in the fight for survival, drawing 1-1 with Wigan away. The hosts took the lead with Andreas Johansson's goal at the start of the second half, but substitute David Dunn managed to equalize the result and secure the deserved draw.
