Former FBK "Kaunas" player will represent Vilnius "Žalgiris" in the upcoming Lithuanian championship season. The experienced footballer returned to the legendary capital team after a break of more than ten years.
Last year, the defender and forward E. Poderis, who represented "Kaunas", scored five goals in the Lithuanian "A League" championship. The 32-year-old player represented "Kaunas" since the summer of 2003, and recently he trained with the team "Šilutė".
E. Poderis, who played for the Lithuanian national team 22 times and scored five goals, played for "Žalgiris" in the very first season of the independent Lithuanian championship and won the gold medals twice with the team.
Leaving "Žalgiris" before the second part of the 1994/5 season, he moved to Kaunas "Inkaras-Grifas" and helped the team win the first place, scoring 23 goals in 24 matches throughout the season, becoming the most productive player of the championship.
The following season, E. Poderis defended the champions title with "Inkaras", and in 2004, he won the fifth Lithuanian championship gold medal representing "Kaunas". In total, during 13 seasons spent in Lithuania, E. Poderis scored 93 goals, ranking him among the best league strikers of all time.
