Tomorrow the Lithuanian football "A League" championship begins. Many clubs are optimistic and hope for high rankings. The official "A League" website asked club leaders and coaches about the goals set by the teams.

"The goal of Panevezys 'Ekranas' is to defend the title of Lithuanian champions and qualify for the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers," said 'Ekranas' club general director Tomas Sitnikovas.

"We set high goals for the team. We need to regain the titles of national champions and perform successfully in the UEFA Cup tournament," said Gintaras Ugianskis, president of FBK "Kaunas" club.

"Marijampole 'Suduva's' official task is the fourth place, as it would give the right to compete in the Baltic League," said 'Suduva's' head coach Algimantas Gabrys.

"Vilnius 'Vetra's' footballers are tasked with taking 1-2 places in the Lithuanian championship, and qualifying for the UEFA Intertoto tournament among the winners to earn a ticket to the UEFA Cup tournament," said 'Vetra's' club president Romas Stasauskas.

"Vilnius", having called in a group of legionnaires from Brazil, also hopes to become the champion of the national championship. "If we win bronze medals, we worked normally, if silver - good, gold - very good," said Algimantas Breikstas, president of the 'Vilnius' club.

"Silute's" team leaders do not have big ambitions. The Pamarys club would be satisfied if they could maintain the sixth place they secured last year.

"I want 'Atlantas' to participate in UEFA tournaments again. Therefore, the goal is to become champions of the 'A League' or win the LFF Cup," said Klaipeda 'Atlantas' head coach Sergejus Savchenkovas.

"Our goal in the 'A League' championship is to fight for the 4-5 places. We will try to play in a way that we are not ashamed," said Igoris Pankratjevas, head coach of Vilnius 'Zalgiris'.

One of the owners of "Šiauliai", Darius Vyšniauskas, said that the goal for the team is to qualify for the Baltic League. "Any lower place for me will be a greater or lesser disappointment. A team that does not aim for the highest goals is bad," he said.

"We did not discuss a specific place. Our desire is to perform better than last year. I think the team is stronger this season," said Vytautas Vaškūnas, head coach of Kėdainiai "Nevezis".
