34th round: "Juventus" lost another two points © EuroFootball.com

In the Italian championship on Saturday afternoon, an unusually played nine out of ten remaining matches of the 34th round. The leader of Turin "Juventus" increased their lead to only five points after losing two points, while "Roma" allowed "Fiorentina" club to return to the fourth place by squandering a three-goal advantage. After "Milan" victory in the Milan derby on Friday, the lead of "Juventus" had decreased to just four points, so in order to maintain the gap, the Turin club needed a victory away against one of the league's bottom teams "Cagliari", but the match did not go well for the champions and at the end of the first half, Sardinia team was put ahead by a penalty kick converted by David Suazo. In the 59th minute, Alessandro Del Piero had a good chance to equalize, but his penalty kick was saved by former "Juventus" goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti. The tension grew and reached its peak already during stoppage time, when Fabio Cannavaro scored the equalizer for Turin with the last shot of the match. "Cagliari" let victory slip from their hands for the second week in a row in the final moments, and the nerves of the team players couldn't take it - Antonio Langella was sent off the field, and A.Chimenti was barely saved from the same fate by his teammates and coaches. A real thriller took place in Sicily, where "Palermo" sought revenge against "Roma" for the defeat in the cup competition. Despite finishing the first half tragically - with three goals scored in six minutes by Brazilians Rodrigo Taddei and Mancini, "Palermo" managed to fight back in the second half. The hope was given to them by Davide Di Michele's goal in the 49th minute, then three minutes later Simone Barone further reduced the gap, and in the 78th minute the latter equalized the result with a great shot - the match ended in a high-scoring draw 3-3. In the battle for the fourth ticket to the Champions League, the stumbling block was used by "Fiorentina", who won away against already relegated "Treviso" and rose to fourth place. The goals for the winners were scored by the most productive player of the championship, Luca Toni, as well as Christian Brocchi and Riccardo Montolivo, while Marco Borriello scored for the losing team. The fierce competition for places in the UEFA Cup continued, but the situation remained almost unchanged, as victories were also achieved by Rome's "Lazio", who won 3-1 against "Livorno" after Goran Pandev's brace, and Verona's "Chievo", who also managed to beat "Messina" at home with a two-goal margin. The revival of the "Parma" club continues - this time they managed to snatch a victory against the crisis-stricken Genoa's "Sampdoria" team in the last minute. Important victories were also achieved by the teams fighting for survival - "Empoli" and "Siena", while "Lecce" lost to "Udinese" and almost have no hopes of not being relegated to "Serie B". 34th round results: 1 - 1 45' [1 - 0] David Suazo (PEN) 90' [1 - 1] Fabio Cannavaro 90' Antonio Langella ("Cagliari") sent off 1 - 3 24' [0 - 1] Luca Toni 39' [1 - 1] Marco Borriello 49' [1 - 2] Cristian Brocchi 84' [1 - 3] Riccardo Montolivo 2 - 0 10' [1 - 0] Gaetano De Rosa 20' [2 - 0] Nicola Amoruso 1 - 2 39' [1 - 0] Luigi Sala 52' [1 - 1] Bernardo Corradi (PEN) 90' [1 - 2] Mark Bresciano 3 - 3 23' [0 - 1] Rodrigo Taddei 29' [0 - 2] Mancini (PEN) 30' [0 - 2] Mancini 50' [1 - 3] David Di Michele 52' [2 - 3] Simone Barone 79' [3 - 3] Simone Barone 1 - 2 25' [0 - 1] Paulo Barreto 38' [1 - 1] Guillermo Giacomazzi 59' [1 - 2] Antonio Di Natale 3 - 1 20' [1 - 0] Massimo Oddo (PEN) 52' [1 - 1] Giuseppe Colucci 56' [2 - 1] Goran Pandev 72' [3 - 1] Goran Pandev 81' Jorge Vargas ("Livorno") sent off 2 - 1 36' [1 - 0] Vittorio Tosto 38' [2 - 0] Francesco Tavano 87' [2 - 1] Erjon Bogdani 2 - 0 15' [1 - 0] Franco Semioli 90' [2 - 0] Victor Obinna (PEN) Standings:
