After "Milan" victory in the Milan derby on Friday, the lead of "Juventus" had decreased to just four points, so in order to maintain the gap, the Turin club needed a victory away against one of the league's bottom teams "Cagliari", but the match did not go well for the champions and at the end of the first half, Sardinia team was put ahead by a penalty kick converted by David Suazo. In the 59th minute, Alessandro Del Piero had a good chance to equalize, but his penalty kick was saved by former "Juventus" goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti. In the battle for the fourth ticket to the Champions League, the stumbling block was used by "Fiorentina", who won away against already relegated "Treviso" and rose to fourth place. The goals for the winners were scored by the most productive player of the championship, Luca Toni, as well as Christian Brocchi and Riccardo Montolivo, while Marco Borriello scored for the losing team. The fierce competition for places in the UEFA Cup continued, but the situation remained almost unchanged, as victories were also achieved by Rome's "Lazio", who won 3-1 against "Livorno" after Goran Pandev's brace, and Verona's "Chievo", who also managed to beat "Messina" at home with a two-goal margin. The revival of the "Parma" club continues - this time they managed to snatch a victory against the crisis-stricken Genoa's "Sampdoria" team in the last minute.
