Achieving three points allowed the "Bayer" team to climb to the fifth position, as their closest rivals, "Hertha", couldn't beat the "Gladbach" team, who had been performing poorly lately - the match ended in a 2-2 draw, and it was only the fourth point for the "Gladbach" team in the last five matches. Approaching the end of the season, the "Koln" team also managed to achieve another victory, defeating another bottom team "Duisburg" 3-1 at home. However, this victory did not help the Cologne club to escape the relegation zone, as other bottom teams also achieved victories in this round - "Wolfsburg" won away against "Arminia" by a narrow margin, while "Kaiserslautern" beat "Hannover" with the same result.
