Round 34: "Real" and "Valencia" victories © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, the remaining matches of the 34th round of the Spanish championship were played. The two teams in the top four - Madrid's "Real" and Pamplona's "Osasuna" - won dramatic victories at the end of the match, while second-placed "Valencia" "crushed" Bilbao "Athletic" in the last ten minutes. The last match between "Sevilla" and "Barcelona" was canceled due to poor weather conditions.

Madrid's "Real" had a difficult time playing at home against championship outsiders "Malaga". The visitors even took the lead from the middle of the first half when Ricardo Bovio scored after a mistake by a "Real" defender. However, "Real" managed to equalize in the middle of the second half when veteran Zinedine Zidane scored from the penalty spot earned by team captain Raul. In the last minute of the match, "Real" snatched victory after a pass from Cicinho by defender Sergio Ramos.

Meanwhile, fourth-placed Pamplona's "Osasuna" secured victory against "Mallorca" in the third minute of added time when French goalkeeper Ludovic Delporte scored after an individual raid.

Important points in the battle for a UEFA Cup spot were lost by La Coruna's "Deportivo", who almost led against "Cadiz" for the entire match as visitors, but ultimately had to settle for a draw. It is worth mentioning that the score was equalized when "Deportivo" played with ten men, and a few minutes later they were reduced to nine players.

"Deportivo"'s failure was exploited by Madrid's "Getafe", who beat "Racing Santander" 3-1 as visitors, and this year's "King's Cup" winners defeated Seville's "Betis" 2-0.

On Sunday evening, a match was supposed to take place in Seville between "Sevilla" and the championship leaders "Barcelona", but it was canceled due to a storm. Less than an hour before the match was set to start, heavy rain completely soaked the field, making it unsuitable for playing.
