The coach of the Portugal national team, Brazilian Luis Felipe Scolari, is the most likely candidate to replace Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson at the helm of the England national team after this year's World Cup, British newspapers reported on Monday.
So far, the most likely candidate has been considered to be "Middlesbrough" manager Steve McLaren, but the "Daily Express" reported that former Arsenal vice-president David Dein has convinced the Football Association to offer a contract to L.F. Scolari in the next 48 hours.
D. Dein is the man who "brought" Swede S.G. Eriksson to the England national team's helm in 2000.
Similar facts were presented by other British newspapers.
L.F. Scolari became World Champions with the Brazilian national team in 2002 and led the Portuguese national team to the final of the European Championship in 2004.
The Brazilian himself has stated several times that he will consider all offers only in July, after the World Cup in Germany ends.
Meanwhile, S.G. Eriksson stated his intentions to leave the post of England national team coach after the World Cup as early as January of this year.
