Munich striker Roy Makaay can relax for another two years about his future - the 31-year-old Dutchman has extended his contract with the German team for another year and will represent them at least until the summer of 2008.
Bayern's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Makaay's agent Rob Jansen agreed on the extension of the contract without much negotiation two weeks ago, and since then, according to R. Makaay, no more problems have arisen, so soon both parties' signatures were put on the contract.
The experienced footballer recently received not the best news - the head coach of the Dutch national team, Marco van Basten, did not find a place for him in the preliminary squad for the World Cup. Nevertheless, R. Makaay, who has already scored 16 goals in total, including twice against the opponent's goalkeeper in the last round of the German championship, still hopes to get into the national team. Otherwise, he intends to seriously consider the possibility of ending his international career.
"Whether I will continue to represent the Dutch national team, I intend to decide after the end of this season," R. Makaay assured.
