The Spanish championship extended until May 20th © EuroFootball.com

After both teams reached the finals of the European tournaments, the end of the season had to be postponed until May 20th by the Spanish "La Liga."

The changes to the championship schedule still need to be approved by FIFA, as the championship would extend beyond the limit set by FIFA for the World Cup - May 15th.

This issue arose when the match between "Sevilla" and "Barcelona" scheduled for Sunday was canceled due to a waterlogged pitch.

Since "Sevilla" will play in the UEFA Europa League final on May 10th, and "Barcelona" will face London's "Arsenal" in the UEFA Champions League final on May 17th, there is no suitable date to play the postponed match without infringing on the rights of other clubs.

According to the revised schedule, "Sevilla" and "Barcelona" would play on May 3rd, when a normal round of the Spanish championship was supposed to take place. In this case, the last three rounds would be postponed to May 7, 14, and 20, respectively.
