According to the Spanish sports newspapers "AS" and "Marca," Madrid have finalized contract details with the Argentine wonderkid playing for "Independiente."
The 17-year-old Argentine, who will turn 18 on June 2, is set to become the third purchase for Madrid's "Atletico" this summer when the transfer window opens. "Atletico" has previously announced the signings of Argentine defender Mariano Pernia from "Getafe" and Portuguese midfielder Ze Castro from "Academica de Coimbra."
Aguero became the youngest ever player to debut in the highest Argentine league on July 6, 2003. He was also a member of the Argentine U-20 national team, which became World Champions last summer in the Netherlands.
The 1.72m tall and 74kg striker played 15 matches in this year's Argentine "Torneo Clausura" championship, scoring eight goals, one of which was from the penalty spot.
Although the transfer fee was not disclosed, it is believed to be around 23 million euros. It is also reported that a six-year contract will be signed with the Argentine.
Other top European clubs such as Barcelona, Villarreal, and Bayern Munich were also interested in the striker, but their offers did not exceed 14 million euros from "Independiente."
