Latvia's "Virsliga" held the 5th round of matches on Sunday. A highly intriguing match took place in Ventspils, where the local team met Liepaja's "Metalurgs" and played to a 1-1 draw. The goal for the home team was scored by the Lithuanian national team goalkeeper, who scored for the 5th time this season.
The match between the two "Lithuanian" teams started off poorly for the guests. In the 25th minute, Tomas Tamosauskas lost the ball, and after a counterattack, the hosts were led ahead by Cameroonian legionnaire Jean-Paul Ndeki.
However, before the end of the half, T.Tamosauskas redeemed his mistake - he passed the ball accurately to his compatriot D.Miceika, who defeated Ventspils' goalkeeper Andrejs Vanins and equalized the score. In the second half, the score remained unchanged, and "Ventspils" maintained their first place with a draw.
In the "Ventspils" team, Igoris Stukalinas played the whole match, while Deimantas Bicka played until the 84th minute. On the other hand, in the team coached by Benjamin Zelkevicius "Metalurgs", Lithuanian defensive trio D.Miceika, T.Tamosauskas, and M.Kalonas played the full match, and Nerijus Astraukas made an appearance on the field in the 78th minute.
"Metalurgs" took advantage of "Skonto" from Riga, who defeated Rezekne's "Dizvanagi" 6-0, pushing the opponent from Liepaja to third place. The sixth position in the league is held by Gintaras Stauch's team "Jurmala", who defeated "Riga" with 3-0 at home. Former Lithuanian national team goalkeeper G.Stauche played the entire match.
