"Hamburger" Maintains Pressure on Leader © EuroFootball.com

On Tuesday, the 32nd round of the Bundesliga championship began and four matches were played. The second-placed "Hamburger" club defeated the "Koln" team and closed in on the leading "Bayern" team by just two points, while "Koln" almost lost hope of staying in the Bundesliga after the loss.

Although the hosts in the Cologne duel were much better attacking and controlled the ball longer, "Hamburger" won by a minimal margin. The only goal of the match was scored by the "Koln" defender, who redirected M.Mahdavikia's cross into his own net in the 3rd minute. This was the eleventh away win for the port city team, reducing the gap with "Bayern" to two points, although the Munich team has played one game less.

"Bayer" continued to demonstrate impressive form, defeating the nearest competitor for a UEFA Cup spot, "Hertha," 5-1 away on Tuesday. This was Leverkusen's sixth consecutive victory, extending their lead over the capital's "Hertha" team to five points.

Another high-scoring match took place in Nuremberg, where the local "Nurnberg" crushed "Gladbach" 5-2. This defeat once again confirmed the away troubles of the "Gladbach" team - in sixteen away matches, they have only managed to gather eight points. Worth mentioning is that in this match, the Nuremberg team scored four goals in the second half, with all the top scorers - R.Vittek, S.Kiessling, and I.Saenko - finding the net.
