n Saturday, after the penultimate 33rd round of the German Bundesliga was played, it became clear that the country's champions title was defended by the Munich "Bayern" club, which secured the first place after "Hamburger" failed in Berlin and became the Bundesliga champion for the 20th time in history, also becoming the first team to win the league and cup tournaments for two consecutive years.

"Bayern" played away against "Kaiserslautern" who were trying to avoid relegation, and although last year Munich's team secured the gold medals with an easy 4-0 victory against the same club, this time everything was much more complicated. Halil Altintop scored a goal for F. Magath's team during the half-time break to reduce the deficit, and in the match against Berlin, "Bayern" was pursued by "Hamburger", and thanks to goals from Piotr Trochoswkio and Benjamin Lauth, they were ahead of the sixth-placed Berlin's "Hertha".

However, in the 55th minute, "Hertha" defender Alexander Madlung equalized the result, and although soon after the capital's team was reduced to ten men after Andreas Neuendorf was sent off the field, the victory for the hosts at the Berlin Olympic Stadium was brought by the goals of former "Bayern" players Niko Kovač and Marko Pantelić. The Bavarian club took advantage of their home game, and after Andreas Ottl equalized the result in the middle of the second half, they secured a point and could celebrate the Bundesliga champions title at the end of the match.

"Hamburger" suffered a setback and the intrigue remains high for the battle for the second place, which guarantees a ticket to the Champions League group stage next season - reducing the gap to just one point from Hamburger, "Köln" crushed "Bremen" with a 6-0 score. After two goals each, Tim Borowski, Miroslav Klose, and Ivan Klasničius scored for the winning team. So, the winner of the second position will be decided in the last round in the clash between the two teams in Hamburg.

Schalke had already guaranteed to experience a setback away against "Mainz", while Leverkuzen's "Bayer" released "Nürnberg" from their grip at home, with a point likely enough to maintain the fifth position and secure the second ticket to the UEFA Cup. "Stuttgart" still has the opportunity to fight for the seventh position after reducing the gap from Dortmund's "Borussia" to two points following a victory against "Wolfsburg".

"Arminia" secured their fifth victory of the season with a 2-0 result against "Duisburg", the absolute league's underdog, in an away match, but it did not have much significance as it was already clear after the last round that the latter team, along with "Köln", would play in the second Bundesliga next year. The fate of the third loser will be revealed in the last round when the Wolfsburg team, leading their opponents in the relegation zone in the tournament table, will face "Kaiserslautern".
