The head coach of the Dutch national team, Marco van Basten, has adjusted the preliminary composition of his team, which is preparing for the World Cup competition. Previously, a preliminary list of 33 players who were aiming to make it into the main team composition was announced. Now from this list, the Dutch coach immediately removed six names. The biggest surprise was that experienced "Tottenham" defender Edgar Davids did not make it into the national team anymore. The new list also does not include defenders Wilfred Bouma from "Aston Villa", Ron Vlaar from "Feyenoord", and Urby Emanuelson from "Ajax", defender Martijn Meerdink from "AZ Alkmaar", and "Feyenoord" team goalkeeper Patrick Lodewijks. The Dutch national team's list has only one new addition so far - Amsterdam "Ajax" defender Johnny Heitinga. It is worth noting that the final composition of the team's 23 players will be revealed on May 15th. The Dutch team has qualified for Group C in the championship, where they will also play against Argentina, Ivory Coast, and Serbia and Montenegro. Preliminary composition of the Dutch national team: Goalkeepers Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Henk Timmer (AZ Alkmaar) Defenders: Johnny Heitinga (Ajax) Khalid Boulahrouz (Hamburger SV), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona), Tim de Cler (AZ Alkmaar), Kew Jaliens (AZ Alkmaar), Jan Kromkamp (Liverpool), Joris Mathijsen (AZ Alkmaar), Andre Ooijer (PSV), Barry Opdam (AZ Alkmaar), Midfielders: George Boateng (Middlesbrough), Mark van Bommel (Barcelona), Phillip Cocu (PSV), Nigel de Jong (Hamburger SV), Danny Landzaat (AZ Alkmaar), Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax), Arjen Robben (Chelsea), Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburger SV).
