The sports court of Italy decided to count the victory for the club with a 3-0 result after the match of this club with was interrupted due to fans invading the field.

The match was stopped just three minutes before its end with "Empoli" leading 2-1. Fans of the Sicilian club broke through the barriers and invaded the field, attacking the referee, urging him to stop the match.

After this decision, "Empoli" preserved three points and further increased their goals scored and conceded ratio, while for the already relegated from "Serie A" "Messina" team, these matches no longer meant anything.

Furthermore, "Messina" club was also given a one-game stadium ban, which means that in the next season of the Serie B championship, the Sicilian club will play their first home match without spectators.
