A.Peruzzi likely extended contract with "Lazio" © EuroFootball.com

According to reports in the Italian press, experienced goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi, who has played for AS Roma and the Italian national team, has agreed to extend his contract with the club and should stay there until 2008.

The 36-year-old veteran has once again proven this season that despite his age, he is still one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A. This is also evidenced by his inclusion in the Italian national team squad for the upcoming World Cup in Germany starting in June.

However, in the Italian national team, A. Peruzzi is only the second goalkeeper and will likely only appear on the field if Gianluigi Buffon, who has been plagued by injuries this season, is injured during the tournaments.

Deciding to extend his professional career, A. Peruzzi has been playing in the top division of Italian football for 18 seasons. Before moving to Lazio, he has represented Roma, Verona, Juventus, and Inter.

The new player's contract is valid until 2008, and considering that the goalkeeper will be 38 years old by then, it is quite possible that Peruzzi may then start talking about the end of his career.
