The club winning Sunday's match against "Thun" 2-0 secured their tenth Swiss league champions title.
Goals from Scott Chipperfield and Philipp Degen at the beginning of the first half determined the victory, ultimately ending the suspense in the battle for the champions title with four rounds left until the end of the championship. The closest pursuers "Basel" lag behind by 13 points.
In the 10th minute, S.Chipperfield, after P.Degen's pass from the flank, brought "Basel" ahead, and just three minutes later P.Degen himself confirmed the lead.
"Basel" regained the champions name after a two-year hiatus. This season, the Swiss club won 24 out of 32 matches played. By winning the title of champions, "Basel" also secured the right to play in the Champions League next year.
