Next year "Lorient" will play in "Ligue 1" © EuroFootball.com

After the last round of matches played on Friday in "Ligue 2," the final team to join "Valenciennes" and "Sedan" in the "Ligue 1" championship next year has become clear - that team is "Lorient."

In the final season matches, "Lorient" defeated "Reims" 3-1 and secured the third place in the championship. Rachman Barry, Virgile Resetas, and Karim Ziani scored goals for "Lorient."

The club made its debut in "Ligue 1" in 1998, and in 2002 reached the final of the French League Cup, but unfortunately lost. "Lorient" has also been the runner-up of "Ligue 2" twice, in 1998 and 2001.

As mentioned earlier, next year "Ligue 1" will feature this team along with this year's "Ligue 2" champions "Valenciennes" and second-placed "Sedan." These teams will replace "Metz," "Strasbourg," and "Ajaccio," who have been relegated to the second division of French football.
