After the latest medical checks on his broken foot, hopes that Wayne Rooney will be properly prepared to play in the World Cup are growing.
On Friday, the forward was seen riding a bicycle around the Carrington training ground.
It has only been two weeks since the match at Stamford Bridge between Manchester United and Chelsea, during which W. Rooney had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
"I just spoke with the doctors in Manchester and their reports were very very positive," said England team doctor L. Sward. "I don't want to say much because we have decided that the Manchester United medical team, under the care of Mike Stone, will take care of Wayne Rooney's foot healing. I can say that they have done a tremendous job with Wayne. I am also very pleased with their latest reports. Wayne's healing progress is very positive."
The first match England team will play with Paraguay, but Sven-Goran Eriksson hopes that W. Rooney will be ready for later stages of the championship.
