From the English Premier League practically relegated, the team loses its first players. One of the leaders of Leeds, 23-year-old Alan Smith, does not want to continue his career at the club.
The transfer window opens after the season, so Alan Smith will play in the remaining two league games.
"I am not a First Division player. I want to continue my career and hope that Leeds fans will understand me. I have tried my best here and they appreciated it. This will not be the last time I wear a Leeds shirt. The club has given me a lot, but now these are important years of my career. I did everything I could and I am proud of myself."
The club, not lacking good players, had ambitions before the season, but a financial crisis hit them and the enthusiasm faded. After being taken over by new owners, the game improved, but there was not enough time to change anything.
