After the end of this year's "Ligue 1" championship in France, the supporters of the French champion received good news - the contract with the team has been extended, and until 2010 one of the best defenders in Europe, called Legionnaire from Brazil, Cris, remains in the team.

For some time, Cris has been linked in the media with the Italian club "Milan", but the 30-year-old footballer did not want to go anywhere and tied his future to the French team. Cris' previous contract with "Lyon" was valid until 2009, but now the player has extended the contract for another year.

The former "Cruzeiro" player was the main defender for "Lyon" throughout the season, helping the club win the French champions title for the fifth time in a row and reach the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Due to his stable performance, the Brazilian was selected for the symbolic team of this season's "Ligue 1" along with six other "Lyon" players.

Cris is also included in the Brazilian national team, which will start their World Cup campaign in Germany in June, competing for a spot in the starting eleven.
