In the Latvian championship, the matches of the 7th round took place on Saturday. Taking advantage of an opportunity to move up to second place in the standings, the country's champion Liepaja club, coached by Benjaminas Zelkevicius, leveled with Riga's "Skonto." The most productive player in the league contributed to the crushing victories, and the championship leader remained unchanged.

In the match against one of the tournament's underdogs "Riga," the Liepaja team took the lead after a header by Aleksandras Katasonovas following a pass from Tomas Tamoshauskas. In the 39th minute, Darius Miceika scored his sixth goal of the season, doubling the score. Jevgenijus Kecsas scored in the ninth minute of the second half after a pass from Mindaugas Kalonas, and Kristalas Grebis later finished the rout with two goals - "Metalurgs" won with a score of 5-0. Among the winners, Lithuanians Nerijus Astrauskas also played, entering the field in the 66th minute after a substitution.

After this victory, "Metalurgs" surpassed "Skonto" and "Ditton" in points. Meanwhile, the leaders of the league remained Ventspils club, who managed to defeat "Dinaburg" 3-2 in a thriller. Deimantas Bicka, who provided a valuable assist for the first goal, played the entire match, while Igoris Stukalinas was on the field until the 75th minute.

In the final round of matches, "Jurmala" with goalkeeper Gintaras Stauche narrowly defeated the absolute underdog, Rezekne's "Dizvanagi" club, who have yet to earn any points, with a score of 2-1. By equalizing in points with "Dinaburg," they moved up to fifth place. In the eighth round of the Latvian "Virsliga," "Metalurgs" and "Skonto" will face off on Wednesday.
