Angola's national team coach, Luis Oliveira Goncalves, announced the list of players who will represent their country in the upcoming World Cup in Germany.
The only newcomer on this team is goalkeeper Mario, who has never represented Angola before and will replace Goliath as the goalkeeper.
Due to injuries, we will not see Gilberto and Maurito, who played at the African Cup of Nations, in this tournament. Gilberto is currently suffering from an Achilles tendon injury, while Maurito, who caused the most discussions about his ability to play in the World Cup, suffered a leg injury during the Asian Champions League match and will not have time to recover.
Two players who are currently not playing for any club have been invited to the national team. These are goalkeeper Joao Ricardo, who played in Portugal this year but is now without a club, and team captain Akwa, who has not represented any team since the end of last year.
Angola will start the World Cup in Group D alongside Mexico, Iran, and Portugal. Angola's first match in the World Cup will be on June 11, and before that, the team plans to play a friendly match with the Argentine national team.
