Goalkeeper Mickael Landreau, who will soon travel to the World Championships in Germany with the French national team, will play for the capital club next season - this was officially announced today by "P.S.G" representatives.
Landreau's contract with his former long-time club ended after this season, and the player did not want to extend the agreement. The Paris club, which has been monitoring this footballer for a long time, immediately took advantage of this and offered him an attractive contract.
It is speculated that the 27-year-old goalkeeper will be the main goalkeeper for "P.S.G" next season, while the current team goalkeepers Jerome Alonzo and Lionel Letizi will likely have to settle for substitute goalkeeper roles.
Having spent thirteen seasons at the "Nantes" club, Landreau will be the third goalkeeper for the French national team in the upcoming World Cup tournament after Fabien Barthez and Gregory Coupet. However, many football specialists believe that French coach Raymond Domenech made a mistake by entrusting the role of the main goalkeeper to Barthez, and not Coupet or even Landreau.
Meanwhile, just like Landreau, Gregory Coupet, who will likely sit on the substitute bench during the World Championships, did not hide his disappointment with such a coach's decision.
"This is not a tragedy, but I will need time to recover from such a coach's decision," Coupet said. "I hope the coach will explain his choice, but now I will do everything to mentally prepare for the World Championships."
