The coach of the Paraguayan national team, Anibal Ruiz, named 23 of his team's footballers who will represent their country at the World Cup in Germany, just over four hours before the deadline for the registration of national teams.
The only surprise in the team is that striker Cesar Ramirez from "Flamengo" will not be part of the team. In his place, the Munich "Bayern" striker Roque Santa Cruz, who is still recovering from an injury, and experienced striker Nelson Cuevas, have been called up to the team.
Defender Carlos Gamarra is also not fully recovered from his injury, but despite this, he is included in the team as the coach believes that experienced defenders are needed for the team.
The Paraguayan national team will start the World Cup in Group B with a match against the English team on June 10th. The group also includes the teams of Sweden and Trinidad and Tobago.
