Poland national team coach Pawel Janas announced a list of 23 players, which does not include longtime team goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek's name.

Liverpool goalkeeper, who helped his club win the UEFA Champions League last season after an 11-meter penalty shootout, this season lost his place in the starting lineup to Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina and, as Janas claims, was not invited to represent his country in the World Cup. Dudek's place in the national team lineup during the tournament should be taken by Warsaw "Legia" goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

In addition, the most productive scorer in the World Cup qualifying matches, midfielder Tomasz Frankowski, and former team captain Tomasz Klos were not invited to the team. Instead, Pawel Brozek and Dariusz Dudka, who play in Germany, will go to the World Cup.

Poland will start their World Cup campaign in Group A along with the national teams of Costa Rica, Ecuador, and host Germany.
