In the fourth place in the recently ended Italian "Serie A" championship, earning the right to play in the next season's UEFA Champions League, Fiorentina announced that they have permanently acquired former goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
The 25-year-old Frenchman was loaned to Fiorentina this season from the "Parma" club, and now "Fiorentina" has finally bought the player's ownership rights. According to reports, the player signed a long-term five-year contract with the club.
With this agreement, "Fiorentina" denied rumors that they do not plan to keep the Frenchman and are trying to attract Romanian goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont, who currently plays for Amsterdam's "Ajax."
Frey is considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in France, but he spent a large part of the second half of the season recovering from a serious knee injury sustained during an Italian Cup match against "Juventus," where he collided with opponent striker Marcelo Zalayeta and tore his right knee ligaments.
However, it seems that the player has fully recovered at the moment and is ready to regain the position of Fiorentina's first-choice goalkeeper and help the team perform successfully in "Serie A" and Champions League matches next season.
