The Leverkusen club, which secured a spot in the next season's UEFA Cup tournament, is strengthening its roster - the team announced that they have acquired the highly-rated Swiss player Pirmin Schwegler.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who represented his homeland's team "Young Boys" last season, caught the eye of several European club scouts with his excellent performance. The Bayer quickly made him an offer and signed the player.
The club management hopes that Schwegler will play a key role in the Leverkusen team next season and be one of the main players in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Cup tournament.
"He is a very talented footballer and we hope that next season he will help our team achieve even better results than this year," said Bayer's head coach Michael Skibbe. "He is still very young and has great potential to improve, but I hope that in the near future he will be a serious support for our team."
It is worth mentioning that Schwegler is already the third acquisition for the Bayer club this offseason. Recently, the team was joined by young talent Stefan Kiessling from "Nuremberg" and defender Alexander Meyer from "Duisburg."
