Bulgaria's national team and Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov will represent the 5th place English Premier League team from London next season.
As we reported earlier this week, Tottenham signed a record sponsorship deal with Mansion company and immediately found where to invest the received money. It is estimated that Tottenham paid almost £11 million for Berbatov to the German team.
In addition to the London club, several other famous clubs from Spain, England, and France were actively interested in three-time best Bulgarian footballer Berbatov. However, Tottenham managed to win the battle for this footballer, and he will soon be officially presented to the team's fans.
“Our club is very pleased that Berbatov agreed to move to us. He is talented, tall, great at ball control, and can create opportunities not only for himself but also for his teammates. He has everything a good striker needs,” said Tottenham's sporting director Damien Comolli.
“The London club is a great team with a bright future,” Berbatov himself rejoiced in the transfer. “They have very talented young players, a great coach, and fantastic fans, so I am delighted to represent this team.”
The arrival of 25-year-old Berbatov in the team raised doubts among football experts about whether there would be a place in the team for the striker from Egypt, Mido, who was loaned out from the Italian club Roma this season. Earlier, Tottenham tried to acquire full rights to this player from the Italian team, but the clubs failed to agree on the transfer fee amount and negotiations broke down.
