In Germany - fear of terrorism © EuroFootball.com

The Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (BKA) reports that there is at least a considerable likelihood of a terrorist attack at least 21 World Cup matches.

According to the announcement, the greatest threat will come from Islamic extremists who see an opportunity to strike in protest against US interference in Middle Eastern politics and life, as well as the global fight against terrorism. A particular threat arises during the opening and final matches of the championship, as well as all matches involving US footballers.

Matches involving England, Spain, Poland, and Australia are also dangerous, as these countries supported US actions in Iraq in 2003 when the dictator Saddam Hussein was overthrown.

However, a BKA representative refused to make a statement on the matter, as the agency generally tries not to comment on internal reports and documents.

Nevertheless, there have been no terrorist attacks in Germany in recent years, even though some participants of the September 11th tragedy had a base in Frankfurt.
