One of the team leaders Thierry Henry, after the UEFA Champions League final lost by the club, stated that he is dissatisfied with the work of referee Terje Hauges, but is proud of what his team managed to achieve.
Despite the fact that in the first half at the very beginning the "Arsenal" goalkeeper Jens Lehmann saw a red card and had to leave the field, the English team was leading until the 76th minute after the goal by Sol Campbell, but then conceded two goals and had to succumb to the opponents from Spain.
After the match, "Arsenal" attacking leader Thierry Henry spoke to journalists, expressing his dissatisfaction with some decisions of referee Terje Hauge, but nevertheless he is proud of his team.
"I am proud of my team and what we have achieved playing ten against eleven is simply amazing. I cannot blame the referee for everything, but some of his decisions made me believe that he is rooting for 'Barcelona'," said Henry.
"All match long the 'Barcelona' players played very roughly against me and in my opinion should have received more than one yellow card, but the referee's whistle remained silent. At one point during the match, I couldn't stand it and approached the referee saying, 'If you don't want our team to win, you could have told us that before the match,'" Henry explained.
"After the match, 'Barcelona' can celebrate victory, but in my opinion, 'Arsenal' played excellent football today and deserved to win. I am proud of my team and all its players," he added.
Henry also acknowledged that the decisive turning point in this match was the performance of Swede Henrik Larsson on the field. The striker, who will be leaving 'Barcelona' after the season, contributed to both team goals and helped secure the trophy.
"When talking about 'Barcelona,' everyone always mentions Ronaldinho, but today I barely noticed him on the field. The best 'Barca' player in this match without a doubt was Larsson, who contributed to both goals and turned the tide of the match upside down," he praised.
Asked about his future plans, Henry refused to comment on his future, stating that at the moment his main focus was the Champions League final and he will start thinking about the future only tonight.
"Today the only thing important to me was the final match, and as for what I will do next season, I will start thinking about that only tonight."
It is worth mentioning that Thierry Henry has been linked with "Barcelona" for some time now, but so far neither the club nor the player have confirmed these rumors.
