One of the best Czech footballers of all time, now representing Turin, goalkeeper Pavel Nedved has hinted that he may end his player career after this year's World Cup.
The 33-year-old footballer had previously stated that this World Cup is his last tournament in the Czech national team, but now it seems that he may retire not only from the national team, but also from football altogether.
"I have very little left to play and I am considering the possibility of ending everything this summer," said Nedved. "You will have to wait and see everything. Right now, my main goal is the World Cup, and after that, anything can happen."
"I have several choices and the decision to end my player career this summer is one of them. I will turn 34 in the summer and I doubt whether I can still give the team what is required of me."
Nedved also expressed surprise at the opinions of football experts and fans that the Czech Republic is one of the favorites for the World Cup.
"Our fans believe that we can win, but I don't know if such optimism is good. We are certainly not favorites, so it's better to be realistic," the Czech player concluded.
