Archie Thompson, a striker from Australia, announced that next season he is leaving Eindhoven and returning to play for his hometown Melbourne "Victory" club.
The Eindhoven club decided not to exercise their priority to buy this player. He has been loaned to a Dutch club for the past six months.
A.Thompson, who played in a friendly match for the Australian national team on Thursday and will participate in the upcoming World Cup in Germany, officially met with representatives of the "Victory" club on Friday and signed a three-year contract.
The twenty-seven-year-old Australian played for the "Victory" club at the beginning of the season, but was later loaned to "PSV" coached by Guus Hiddink with the priority to buy him. He appeared on the field for the Dutch club only twice.
"The opportunity to play in the current national team coach-led "PSV" club and prepare for the World Cup was truly incredible," said A. Thompson on Friday. "But my family is based in Melbourne."
