London vice president David Dein said that the club rejected two fifty million pound sterling offers to sell the Frenchman even before he agreed to extend his contract with the London club.
Thierry Henry's decision meant that he would not become the most expensive football player of all time, a title still held by Zinedine Zidane, who moved to Real Madrid for a fee of 47 million pounds sterling.
"We rejected two record offers from Spanish clubs. One doesn't need to be a great scientist to understand which clubs we're talking about," Dein told the newspaper "Sunday Express."
"Our message was clear - he is not for sale. I think Henry got the message," said the vice president of Arsenal.
Dein also revealed that T.Henry signed a new contract, which was offered to him back in January.
The vice president of Arsenal added that Henry's decision to stay in the English capital was influenced by the fact that he helps young Arsenal stars improve.
"Moreover, I believe he also realized that at Barcelona or Real, he would only be a prince. Here, he is a king," said the Englishman.
