The penultimate 41st round of the Italian "Serie B" division on Sunday unfolded differently for both "Lithuanian" clubs - Marius Stankevičius' "Brescia" team lost at home to "Torino" and practically lost the chance to occupy the sixth place, while "Avellino", where Tomas Danilevičius shined again, secured a victory and kept hope to stay in the league.
"Avellino" played at home against "Vicenza" and in the 22nd minute, a great penalty kick by Simone Cavalli put the guests ahead. However, in the 68th minute T. Danilevičius managed to equalize with his 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot, and two minutes later team captain Massimo Rastelli put "Avellino" in the lead.
The result remained unchanged until the end of the match, so "Ternana" finished with a draw against "Cremonese" and dropped to "Serie C1", while "Avellino" after the victory over "Albinoleffe" and erasing a two-goal deficit in 10 minutes will not rise above the 17th place and will have to play additional matches for survival. The second participant of such a match will be determined after the last round - "Albinoleffe" is one point behind the 17th place "Rimini" and in order to avoid an unpleasant match, they must win and hope for their opponents' failure.
Meanwhile, "Brescia" with M. Stankevičius playing the full match lost 0-1 to "Torino" and now practically has no chance to occupy the sixth place. "Atalanta" has already secured a place in the highest league, and following their example, "Catania" should also secure their place in "Serie A" in the last round, while teams occupying the 3rd to 6th places will fight for a spot in the promotion playoffs.
