Danish national team forward Peter Lovenkrands has rejected a new contract offered by the club and agreed to represent Gelsenkirchen for the next three seasons.
The 26-year-old striker, who arrived at the Glasgow club six years ago from AB Copenhagen for £1.3 million, will not receive any compensation from the Germans.
"Peter is left-footed, lightning-fast, and has a nose for goals," said Schalke manager Andreas Muller. "He will allow us to have a more diverse attacking line."
Lovenkrands himself said, "Schalke is a big club, and I want to win titles. I spoke with my compatriots Soren Larsen and Christian Poulsen, who greatly contributed to my decision."
This season, the footballer, who can play both in the center and on the wing, scored a total of 18 goals, 4 of which were in the UEFA Champions League.
