As we announced earlier, the Edinburgh club, which won 2nd place in the Scottish league last season, is looking to strengthen their squad and is interested in the possibility of inviting South Korean football star Ahn Jung-Hwan from "Duisburg" and Cameroonian national team striker Albert Meyong from "Belenenses". However, we will probably not see the latter footballer in the ranks of "Hearts" next season, as negotiations for his transfer have stalled, according to the player's agent.
The Cameroonian national team striker expressed a desire to leave the Portuguese team, as it was relegated to the country's second football division. However, "Belenenses" is demanding 1.7 million euros for the player, while "Hearts" owner Vladimir Romanov is willing to pay no more than 1 million.
Romanov justifies his decision by stating that Meyong's contract with "Belenenses" expires next year, and therefore he is not willing to pay the amount requested by the club for the footballer. This was also confirmed by the player's agent, Paulo Teixeira.
""Hearts" showed a lot of interest in my client, but now the negotiations have stopped due to the transfer fee, and I don't think they will resume at any point," Teixeira said.
"However, this is not a problem because Meyong is being sought after by many other clubs, and currently the team with the highest chance of acquiring the striker is the French team "Auxerre"."
