Representatives of the Lisbon team announced on Thursday that they have signed a contract with former Portuguese national team player Rui Costa.
The 34-year-old footballer has been talking for some time about wanting to terminate the contract he had with the Milan club for another year and return to "Benfica", where he started his career at just 9 years old. The details of the official agreement are not yet being disclosed.
Costa arrived at "Milan" in 2001 from another Italian team "Fiorentina". Recently, there were rumors that the player might return to "Fiorentina" next season, but the footballer chose the Lisbon club, where he left in 1994.
"I am happy to return to "Benfica," - Costa said upon arriving at Lisbon airport. "I have been dreaming of coming back here for 12 years and now I am extremely happy."
