London leaders have admitted that they have ended negotiations with the club over the acquisition of Egyptian forward Mido.

The 23-year-old striker has been on loan to an English team for the past year and a half, and Tottenham manager Martin Jol did not hide his desire to buy the Egyptian on a longer-term basis. Despite Mido himself saying he wanted to stay in London, the clubs could not agree on the transfer fee.

Last week, Tottenham acquired another striker, Dimitar Berbatov, for £11 million, so the English were not willing to pay, as it is believed, a similar amount for the Egyptian.

The London club also announced that defender Goran Bunjevčević from Serbia and 36-year-old Moroccan veteran Nourredine Naybet will no longer be part of the team next season.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Irishman Stephen Kelly has signed a new one-year contract.
