The club that will compete in the Champions League next season has started strengthening for the new season and officially announced the acquisition of Argentine defender Mario Alberto Santanos from another club.
The 24-year-old player, who failed to make it to the Argentine national team for the World Cup, has been negotiating with Fiorentina for a while, and his transfer was confirmed on Saturday afternoon. Argentine who signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina for €4 million and half the rights to former Treviso defender Francesco Parravicini.
This is already the second new reinforcement for Fiorentina in the defense line - recently the team was also joined by Fabio Liverani, who changed teams from Roma without a transfer fee. In addition, a long-term five-year contract was signed a couple of weeks ago with goalkeeper Sebastian Frey who belonged to the club.
However, it is believed that this is not the first deal between Fiorentina and Palermo this summer - the team that finished fourth in the Italian championship is also interested in national team defenders Andrea Barzagli and Simone Barone, and according to "Gazzetta dello Sport", their main target in the search for a forward is the Serbian player playing for Atletico Madrid and valued at around 5 million euros, Mateja Kežman.
