Italian national team defender suffered a thigh injury to his right leg during a training session at the country's training base in Coverciano.
During a friendly training match, the left-back collided with a player from an amateur team and was immediately taken for further examination. After additional procedures are carried out, the nature of the injury will be determined.
"I hope this is not serious. I felt a lot of pain in the muscle when I stretched my leg, but I hope this problem won't bother me and won't affect my physical condition," said G. Zambrotta. "I will stay here for further examinations because I want to participate in the World Cup."
There is currently no reason to believe that G. Zambrotta will miss Italy's first match with the Ghana national team.
