As promised, the universal defender Gabri officially left this year's UEFA Champions League winners club on Monday, thereby ending his 13-year career at the Catalan superclub.
The 27-year-old Spaniard, who rejected an offer from London's West Ham in January, mentioned at a press conference that he might move to Ajax in Amsterdam. The defender would join the recently appointed head coach Henk ten Cate in the Netherlands, who was Frank Rijkaard's assistant coach last season.
"I have to decide about my future: whether to stay in Spain or move abroad," Gabri said at the press conference. "The philosophy at Ajax is similar to Barcelona, so playing there would be good for me. However, I still have time to decide."
Gabri has represented the Spanish national team three times, but lost his place in the team in the past two years due to knee and ankle ligament injuries.
