The Future of V. Ivanauskas in Edinburgh - still unclear © EuroFootball.com

Although there were reports that on Monday (yesterday) there would be an announcement about Valdas Ivanauskas' future at the Edinburgh club, they did not materialize. Nevertheless, it seems that the Lithuanian is earning more and more sympathy in Scotland.

The latest famous figure expressing support for the temporary vice-champions of Scotland's coach is "Hearts" legend Gary Mackay.

G. Mackay expressed his support by commenting on a survey conducted by one of the Edinburgh newspapers, in which 98 percent of the voters expressed their support for V. Ivanauskas to continue leading "Hearts."

"Although I do not always agree with 'Hearts' fans, on this issue I agree with them," said the Edinburgh club legend. "I hope Valdas gets this job. It's not surprising that he has the support of the fans. Together with coach John McGlynn, they stabilized the 'Hearts' ship and helped them win the Scottish Cup."

"Who can they invite to train the team?" rhetorically asked the Scot. "Someone who knows the situation in the club, or someone who is currently studying film material? It's hard to predict the steps of the 'Hearts' management, but personally, I think Valdas should remain the head coach."

"Even if he does not remain the head coach, it is important that he remains in the team. He is the intermediate link between Lithuanian team leaders and players," added the player of the 9th and 10th decades of the 'Hearts'.

To ensure that V. Ivanauskas will stay at the club, the agent of the Korean sought-after 'Hearts' player Ahn Jung-Hwan, Tomas Sanders, stated: "He will definitely stay at the club. Although it is not yet completely clear what position he will take."

The British media also reported that if V. Ivanauskas is not left as the head coach, he will again take on the duties of assistant coach to the Lithuanian national team coach Algimantas Liubinskas. This was confirmed to the Scots by the President of the Lithuanian Football Federation and former member of the 'Hearts' board Liutauras Varanavicius.

"In recent days, we have spoken several times," confirmed L. Varanavicius. "We would like to work with him. If he decides to contribute to the national team, we will eagerly await him."

"At the moment, we are very flexible, as the national team will only play their next match in August, and by then Valdas will already know what position he will hold in the 'Hearts' team," said the president of the LFF.
