London strateg Jose Mourinho confirmed that in the near future, the team will most likely sign a contract with a thirty-year-old goalkeeper from Portugal, Hilario.
This season, the contract of the footballer who was born in his native country of Madeira and played for "Nacional" has ended, so the London team will not have to pay any compensation.
"Hilario is an intelligent player who will help ensure that Chelsea currently has the strongest goalkeeper lineup in the world," said J. Mourinho. "I worked with him at Porto before and I know that he has all the qualities and character traits needed to establish himself in our team."
Chelsea has been looking for a player who can fill the position of the team's third goalkeeper after Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini.
Meanwhile, J. Mourinho took the opportunity to deny rumors that he may try to lure the fullbacks Simao and Ricardo Quaresma to England.
The strategist admitted that he may have fueled these rumors himself, stating that he admires the playing style of these players but does not see great prospects in acquiring them.
"I am probably at fault for these talks," said one of the best strategists on the continent. "When I said that Simao is a player that any coach would want, I raised the expectations of some people. However, it is difficult to expect that we will buy a fullback when we have players like Damien Duff, Joe Cole, and Arjen Robben."
